As an Apprentice Fitter / Technician you will be given the opportunity to work with highly skilled individuals and develop competencies across the fitting and testing functions in our award winning service centre. During the programme you will develop the ability to work from engineering drawings and technical data to strip, inspect, report and re‑build a wide variety of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps used primarily in the power and energy industry. You’ll develop health and safety awareness throughout the program and support the business as it drives towards a zero harm culture. The four‑year programme will combine an internal training programme with an SVQ L3 qualification.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Work through a 4‑year internal apprenticeship training programme, which includes fitting, machining, testing and quality inspection/assurance, assisting with maintenance and CES programmes.
- Attend day release college and complete all assignments and examinations to obtain relevant SVQ qualifications.
- Complete SVQ level 3 qualification in conjunction with the education provider.
- During the apprenticeship complete and present a variety of projects on engineering subjects related to your training.

- A willingness to learn and to take on new or challenging responsibilities within the business.
- A commitment to completing a four‑year Apprenticeship scheme.

Physical Demands
- Require daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).
- Require occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Require daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).
- Require occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate.
- Require occasionally to travel (usually by air or road so may be required to sit for extended periods).
Working Conditions
- Ability to work with moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers).
- Ability to work in an open planned office or individual office.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
