Overview
In this role you will lead capital investment projects at the Newport Specialty Elastomers Plant, guiding them from design through handover. You will ensure safety and financial controls while coordinating with global and site teams to align with the capital plan. The role focuses on implementing new or modified processes and equipment, driving productivity improvements, and solving complex issues. This is an opportunity to shape operations in a safety‑driven, high‑visibility environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage capital investment projects (CAPEX/OPEX) including design approvals, planning, execution, and financial control
- Lead the implementation of new or modified processes and plant equipment from design through commissioning and handover
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety requirements and stay within cost/time goals
- Collaborate with Global Capital Team to manage spend and maintain site Asset Register
- Develop and execute the annual and 5‑year Capital Plan and coordinate outages with Operations Team
- Solve moderately complex issues independently and escalate as needed
- Work closely with Continuous Improvement Leader, Reliability Leads, and Maintenance Manager
- Scope productivity improvement projects and manage change activities
Key requirements
- Minimum 5 years of proven Project Engineering experience with capital investment projects
- Proven project management experience in manufacturing
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and SAP or CMMS
- Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage safe working practices (Permit to Work, Risk Assessments, Management of Change)
- Strong communication and influencing ability
- Drive and ownership mindset
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- SAP or CMMS knowledge
- AutoCAD (CAD) experience; ability to read/edit P&ID and general arrangements
- Microsoft Office proficiency
