Celanese is recruiting Process Technicians to join us at the Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) plant in Newport, South Wales. As a Process Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring production lines operate flawlessly to maintain the exceptional quality our customers love. The plant specialises in Santoprene, a thermoplastic elastomer used on car windscreens, under‑bonnet applications, interior parts, construction products and consumer goods such as toothbrushes and kitchen utensils.
Responsibilities:
- Operate extrusion equipment via control room and field‑based control systems.
- Respond to breakdowns, perform basic fault finding, and support maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor plant performance and diagnose faults.
- Maximise reliability through executing operator care rounds.
- Work within shift to ensure delivery of individual and team responsibilities and objectives.
- Conduct detailed shift handovers.
- Operate forklift truck – up to 3.5 t (training provided).
- Issue work permits for operations and tanker offloading areas.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Completion of a recognised Mechanical apprenticeship (required).
- Experience in fault finding using a systematic approach to achieve root cause efficiently (beneficial).
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with pumps, motors, feeders (e.g. LIW), valves and actuators.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings & P&IDs.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience in Distributed Control Systems (e.g. DeltaV).
- FLT licence.
- Welding proficiency.
- Competence with workshop machinery.
- Previous operational role on a chemical process plant or related engineering/heavy‑industry field preferred.
