Mylar Specialty Films (formerly Dupont Teijin Films) is a leading global producer of PET and PEN polyester films. We have a vacancy at our Dumfries site for an Electrical & Control Technician to join our maintenance team.

Overview: Mylar Specialty Films is a 50/50 joint venture between Celanese Corporation and Teijin Limited, employing approximately 2,000 staff worldwide with manufacturing sites in Asia Pacific, America and Europe. The UK production site is in Dumfries, Scotland, and our Global R&D operation is based on Teesside.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain production equipment and maximise availability of production assets through reactive, proactive, preventative and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Participate in a flexible plant team, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with longer shifts as required including 12‑hour day shifts, night shifts and weekend work.
  • Provide comprehensive training and development and pursue personal development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experience of fault finding.
  • Understanding and experience of statutory electrical tests and inspections.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team.
  • Flexible to provide onsite support outside of normal working hours when required.
  • Ability to update records in an accurate and timely manner.

The following experience would be advantageous, though comprehensive training & development will be provided:

  • Understanding of 3‑phase AC distribution.
  • Experience with motor control circuits & variable speed drives.
  • General working knowledge of PLC systems, particularly Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley.
  • Experience with control instrumentation and process control systems.

Competitive remuneration package from £39,000 depending on skills and experience. Optional company pension, health, dental and vision cover are offered. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and a valid work permit, if required. The closing date for applications is April 13th.
