Mylar Specialty Films (Formerly Dupont Teijin Films) is a leading global producer of PET and PEN polyester films specialising in film products and related services for various markets and industries. Mylar Specialty Films is a 50/50 Joint Venture between Celanese Corporation and Teijin Limited, with approximately 2000 employees worldwide and manufacturing sites in Asia Pacific, America, and Europe. The UK production site is based in Dumfries, Scotland, and the Global Research & Development Operation is based at Wilton on Teesside. We currently have vacancies at our Dumfries Site for an Electrical & Control Technician.
Mylar Specialty Films has an opportunity for an Electrical & Control Technician to join our maintenance team. Successful applicants will have completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship, have experience of carrying out a similar role, or be looking for the next step in their career to develop into an Electrical & Control Technician. You will become part of a flexible plant team required to maintain production equipment and maximise availability of the production assets through a combination of reactive, proactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance methods. Comprehensive training & development will be given to the successful candidate along with opportunities for personal development.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday days, with a requirement to work longer shifts as required, which includes 12-hour day shifts, night shifts, and weekend working.
Qualifications
- Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- Experience of fault finding.
- Understanding and experience of statutory electrical tests and inspections.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work and communicate in a team.
- Flexible to provide onsite support outside of normal working hours when required.
- Ability to update records in an accurate and timely manner.
The following experience would be advantageous, however comprehensive training & development will be given to the successful candidate:
- An understanding of 3 phase AC distribution.
- Experience of motor control circuits & variable speed drives.
- General working knowledge of PLC systems, in particular Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley.
- Experience of control instrumentation and systems associated with process control.
This role comes with a competitive remuneration package from £39,000 depending on skills and experience; including optional company pension, health, dental, and vision cover. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and a valid work permit, if required. The closing date for applications is April 13th.
