Ceiba Renewables has been installing solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems since 2008. We are based in Glasgow but work all over Scotland — from city rooftops to remote island projects. We are a three-time Solar PV Installer of the Year and two-time Tesla Installation Award-winning installer with a reputation built on doing the job properly: technically correct, tidy, and with customers who would genuinely recommend us.
We are a small team. Everyone here matters. The person we hire will work closely with our lead installer and sub-contractors, with the support of an MD who still speaks the technical language and a COO who makes sure the operation runs properly.
The Honest Picture
Most of our work is residential — solar PV, Tesla Powerwall and Hanchu batteries, Myenergi EV chargers, SolarEdge and Enphase systems. The technology is genuinely interesting and changes quickly. You will work in people’s homes, so how you present yourself and communicate matters as much as the quality of your installation.
We work all over Scotland. Depending on the project schedule, you may be away from home for a few nights a month — sometimes more, sometimes less. We are flexible with the team and if you have commitments we will do our best to accommodate them. We would rather be straight about this upfront than waste your time or ours.
You will get a company van on successful completion of a 6-month probation period. We run a small fleet and are sensible about it — if it makes more sense to leave from home for an early start, that’s fine. We trust our people to use good judgement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Day to day you will be installing, commissioning and handing over residential renewable energy systems. That means:
- Solar PV installation and DC wiring
- Battery storage systems (Tesla Powerwall, Hanchu)
- EV charger installation (Myenergi Zappi and others)
- AC wiring, consumer unit work, metering
- Fault finding, inspection and testing
- SimPro job completion and site paperwork
- Customer handover — explaining how the system works, leaving a good impression
You won’t be designing systems from scratch — that’s handled before you arrive on site — but understanding the design and being able to answer a customer’s questions confidently is part of the job.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Fully qualified electrician (SJIB graded, time-served)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Strong understanding of BS 7671 and certification
- Experience working in domestic settings — you know how to behave in someone’s home
- Clean UK driving licence
- Your own hand tools
Highly Desirable
- Previous solar PV or battery storage installation experience
- EV charger installation experience or qualification
- C&G Inspection & Testing (2391 or equivalent)
- MCS awareness or prior experience at an MCS-accredited installer
- Previously held Qualified Supervisor status at an MCS-accredited installer
If you don’t tick every box but you have the right foundation and the right attitude, we’d still like to hear from you. We fund training for the right person.
This Role Isn’t for You If...
- Your standards slip when no one’s watching
- You see paperwork and customer handover as someone else’s problem
- You’re not genuinely curious about how the technology works
- You’re not willing to travel and stay away from home when the project requires it
- You prefer a large contractor environment where you clock in, do your task, and clock out
What You’ll Get
- £40,000 – £46,000 depending on experience, plus overtime
- Company van on successful completion of a 6-month probation period (transport to project work is provided during probation)
- Funded training: EV charging qualification and C&G Inspection & Testing for the right candidate
- A small team where your contribution is visible and valued
- Projects that take you to some remarkable parts of Scotland
- Manufacturer training with the brands we install
- Company pension
- A business that’s genuinely invested in doing things properly
A Bit More About the Culture
We’re not a factory floor operation. We don’t have layers of management or bureaucracy. What we do have is a set of standards we hold ourselves to — technically and professionally. We expect the people who work here to take ownership: if you see something wrong, you say so; if you make a mistake, you own it; if a customer has a problem, you solve it. We call this being above the line.
If that sounds like how you already operate, you’ll fit in well.
