Responsibilities include supporting the operation of the Cefas Weymouth Aquarium Facility under the leadership of the Aquarium Facility’s Systems manager. Maintain high biosecurity standards across all Aquarium Services areas through effective housekeeping. Perform equipment calibration, storage, systems maintenance, tank and general cleaning/sterilisation. Set up and decommission wet‑work studies. Ensure compliance with Home Office, Biosecurity, and Health and Safety requirements. Develop and apply skills in aquaculture biosecurity practices, aquaculture operations, and aquarium‑relevant life support systems (flow‑through and recirculating systems, water, heating, aeration, lighting).
Qualifications include demonstrated technical work and system setup experience, an interest in the ethical issues surrounding the use of protected aquatic animals in research, and a willingness to support animal care. A full clean driving licence valid for driving in the UK is also required.
