IT Audit / SOX Consultant (Technical Controls)

Location: London (Hybrid) Rate: £400-£450 per day (Umbrella) Contract: Initial 6 months IR35: Inside IR35

Cedar are supporting a leading consultancy on the search for a technically minded IT Audit / SOX Consultant to join a high-profile programme for an international client.

This is a hands‑on delivery role where you’ll be responsible for executing SOX 404 testing across IT General Controls (ITGCs), key reports and automated controls.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, can quickly work through testing activities and has the technical capability to understand how automated controls and application logic operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver IT General Controls (ITGC) testing in support of SOX 404 compliance.
  • Perform testing of key reports and automated controls used in financial reporting.
  • Review application logic, system configurations and technical implementations to validate the effectiveness of automated controls.
  • Identify issues within automated processes and work with technical teams to understand and assess control deficiencies.
  • Gather, review and document audit evidence in line with SOX methodology.
  • Produce high-quality workpapers and communicate findings clearly to client stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with IT, application and business teams throughout the audit lifecycle.

About You

You’ll have

  • Experience delivering IT Audit, SOX or IT General Controls (ITGC) testing.
  • Strong understanding of SOX 404 compliance and IT control frameworks.
  • Experience testing automated controls, key reports and application controls.
  • The ability to understand technical logic, system configurations or code that underpins automated controls.
  • A hands‑on, analytical approach with the confidence to investigate issues and work through testing independently.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous consulting or professional services experience is desirable.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting US‑listed organisations or SOX programmes.
  • Exposure to ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle or Workday.
  • Experience working alongside developers, application support or engineering teams.

Knowledge of IT Application Controls (ITACs) and automated control environments.
