Clearance: Current CTC Clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance)

Day rate: £150 – £200 per day Inside IR35

We are supporting a public sector organisation in the search for an experienced Interim Finance Officer to provide vital support across core financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of accurate and timely financial processing across AP, AR and general ledger activities
  • Assist with month-end tasks including reconciliations, journals and reporting
  • Maintain robust financial controls in line with organisational policies and audit requirements
  • Prepare and analyse financial information to support decision‑making across the finance team
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate coding, approvals and financial compliance
  • Assist with ad-hoc finance tasks and contribute to process improvements

Essential experience

  • Previous experience in a Finance Assistant / Finance Officer role within the public sector
  • Strong knowledge of core finance processes including accounts payable, receivable and reconciliations
  • Confident working with high volumes, tight deadlines and competing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues across the business
  • Current CTC clearance, or willingness to undertake the process before starting
