Intro
A PE-backed infrastructure business is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide financial leadership during a period of significant growth, investment and organisational change.
This is a commercially focused, hands-on assignment, working closely with senior operational leaders to improve performance, strengthen financial discipline and support the continued development of the business.

A large, investor-backed organisation operating across the UK infrastructure market. The business is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy through a combination of organic expansion, operational improvement and targeted acquisitions.
Finance plays a central role in providing commercial challenge, improving visibility and ensuring the organisation has the controls and reporting required to support its next stage of growth.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Interim Finance Director will act as the senior finance partner to the divisional leadership team. You will take ownership of financial performance, forecasting, cash management and commercial decision support across a complex, contract-led operation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with divisional and operational leadership to improve commercial and financial performance
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and performance reporting
- Providing challenge and insight around margins, costs, working capital and operational delivery
- Strengthening contract accounting, project reporting and financial governance
- Improving the quality, accuracy and timeliness of management information
- Supporting acquisition integration and wider business change initiatives
- Developing financial controls, processes and reporting across the division
- Working closely with commercial teams to understand contract performance, risks and opportunities
- Leading and developing the divisional finance team
- Supporting the CFO with Board, investor and senior stakeholder reporting
Your Profile
- Qualified accountant with significant Finance Director-level experience
- Proven background within a complex, contract-led organisation
- Previous exposure to a PE-backed, acquisitive or high-growth business
- Experience across infrastructure, energy, transport, engineering, defence, facilities management or a similarly operational sector
- Experience supporting acquisition integration and wider business change
Compensation & Benefits
This 9 month interim role offers a day rate of £700-£850, dependent on experience, and is based in London with regular UK travel. The position provides the opportunity to lead finance for a significant division within a large PE-backed infrastructure group, partnering closely with the CFO and operational leadership to improve commercial performance, strengthen financial control and support acquisition integration.
