An NHS organisation in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Interim Estates Operations Manager to lead the delivery of operational estates services across a large acute site. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant and high-performing healthcare environment, managing both in-house teams and external contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operational management of estates maintenance services across buildings, engineering systems and grounds.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, HTMs and H&S regulations.
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance programmes to deliver a safe and efficient patient environment.
  • Oversee estates contracts, procurement activity and contractor performance.
  • Take responsibility for delegated budgets, driving value for money and efficiency improvements.
  • Lead, develop and performance manage estates teams, fostering a strong and collaborative culture.
  • Act as Authorised Person (or work towards) across key disciplines such as water safety, medical gases, ventilation or electrical systems.
  • Support business continuity planning and respond to operational incidents as required, including participation in on-call.

Essential experience:

  • Significant experience in estates operations within a complex healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, HTMs and estates governance frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
  • Demonstrable experience of budget management and service improvement.
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in a building services or engineering discipline.
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
