Role:
- To support the provision of safe, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents, ensuring all food is prepared and served in line with individual dietary needs, food texture levels, and care sector standards.
- Prepare and cook meals and bake in line with set menus, residents’ preferences, and care plans.
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, plating, and service.
- Prepare food to the correct texture and fluid levels (e.g. soft, minced & moist, pureed, thickened fluids) in line with IDDSI and care sector standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation in the kitchen.
- Follow food safety, infection control, and COSHH procedures at all times.
- Support stock control, food storage, and stock rotation.
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas thoroughly, ensuring the whole kitchen area is clean and tidy.
- Work closely with care staff to meet residents’ dietary, cultural, and medical needs.
- Comply with company policies, health & safety regulations, and care sector requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience preferred working in a care home or nursing home kitchen.
- Understanding of how to support residents’ nutritional needs, allergies, and medical diets.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) or willingness to complete.
- Good understanding of health & safety and infection control practices.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work well as part of a team, flexible and to support with covering holidays.
- Clear communication with care staff and management.
