An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Volunteer Manager to join a high-profile London based organisation. This role plays a key part in building, engaging, and developing a thriving volunteer and casual workforce community. You will lead the organisation's volunteer and casual staff engagement strategy, enhance the volunteer experience, and ensure robust processes across recruitment, onboarding, compliance and recognition. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead volunteer recruitment and engagement activities, partnering closely with internal teams and external community groups.
  • Maintain and enhance the dedicated volunteer platform and value proposition.
  • Manage screening, onboarding and development processes, including supporting learning pathways for volunteers and team leaders.
  • Coordinate volunteer programmes and engagement initiatives, ensuring a high-quality experience across events.
  • Review volunteer and casual staff feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage recognition programmes, incentives and community-building activities.
  • Oversee casual staff processes, including sourcing, pre-employment checks, contracting and compliance.
  • Support freelance engagement by completing IR35 checks and ensuring documentation compliance.
  • Work closely with DEI, Communications, Event Experience and other internal teams to deliver an inclusive, engaging and well-organised volunteer environment.

Essential experience

  • Experience working within a Volunteer Management role for large scale events.
  • Strong background in managing large volunteer programmes and/or casual staffing.
  • Knowledge of large-scale recruitment coordination.
  • Confident managing compliance processes including right to work, contracting and IR35 checks.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
