A well-known fast-growing, tech-enabled consumer business is transforming the way a traditional industry operates. They are looking for a Site Accountant to take ownership of financial reporting and controls for key production locations.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who enjoys being close to operations, influencing decision-making on site, and working with high-value inventory in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and reporting for one or two major operational sites, working closely with site leadership and a Finance Business Partner to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. This is not a desk-only role; you will regularly visit sites in Grimsby, Derby, and Corby, building strong relationships with operational teams and gaining a real understanding of how the business runs on the ground.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing monthly site management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and deferred income
- Full general ledger ownership for your sites
- Balance sheet reconciliations and analysis, including inventory and work-in-progress
- Supporting and attending stock counts, investigating and resolving variances
- Variance analysis against forecast and budget with clear commentary
- Managing cost recharges and intercompany reconciliations
- Presenting monthly financial performance to operational stakeholders
- Partnering with site leadership to identify cost efficiencies and process improvements
- Supporting budgets, forecasts, and year-end audit
This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership and partnering with operational teams rather than working purely in head office finance.
Person specification
- Experience in accounting and reporting for large operational sites
- Strong understanding of inventory, WIP, and balance sheet control
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- ACCA/CIMA or ACA qualified
- Experience improving financial or operational processes
- Confidence presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems such as Business Central is a bonus
You will need to be well organised, detail-focused, and comfortable balancing hands-on finance with stakeholder engagement on site.
The Package
- £50,000-£60,000 salary (depending on experience)
- 10% discretionary bonus
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Employer pension contribution
- Hybrid working - 2 days per week in Hook, Hampshire office
