An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong Group Financial Controller to join a rapidly scaling UK infrastructure business backed by a leading private equity investor. The business is currently generating c.£500m revenue and is targeting growth beyond £1bn through a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. The group is undergoing significant transformation following a carve-out acquisition and is now building out a best-in-class finance function to support its next phase of growth.

This role offers exposure well beyond a traditional controllership position. Working closely with a highly commercial senior leadership team, you will play a key role in strengthening governance, supporting acquisition integration activity, and helping prepare the business for future transactions.

The Opportunity

This is a high-profile role within a fast-paced, acquisitive environment where finance is viewed as a genuine strategic partner to the business. You will lead a sizeable finance team whilst operating across technical accounting, governance, banking and compliance, with broad exposure to PE-backed reporting requirements and transaction activity. For an ambitious individual, this presents a rare opportunity to position themselves at the centre of a major growth story and work closely with senior stakeholders on future deal activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a finance team of c.10 people across group finance activities
  • Oversee group reporting, controls, governance and compliance processes
  • Manage banking reporting requirements and lender relationships
  • Support acquisition integration and finance transformation initiatives
  • Ensure robust balance sheet control across a complex operational environment
  • Work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders across the group
  • Assist with audit, statutory reporting and technical accounting matters
  • Provide insight around contract accounting, WIP and associated balance sheet impacts
  • Support the wider leadership team through ongoing growth and M&A activity

Candidate Profile

  • ACA qualified, ideally practice trained within a Big 4 or leading mid-tier firm
  • Several years' post-qualified experience within industry or a complex audit environment
  • Strong technical accounting and financial control capability
  • Experience within PE-backed, infrastructure, construction, engineering or project-based environments advantageous
  • Understanding of contract accounting and WIP accounting principles
  • Proven ability managing and developing teams
  • Commercially minded with a hands-on, high-performance mentality
  • Comfortable operating within a fast-paced, evolving business environment
