Cedar are recruiting an Accessibility Manager. You will be responsible for driving accessibility improvements across our transport network, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, and delivering exceptional customer service to all passengers. You will collaborate with a wide range of teams, including engineering, operations, customer service, and external partners, to identify and address accessibility needs, ensuring transport services are more inclusive and enjoyable for people of all abilities. This is a permanent position reporting into the HR manager and offers hybrid working (3/2 split).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the accessibility strategy for the organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation such as the Equality Act 2010, Transport Accessibility Regulations, and other applicable standards.
  • Lead accessibility audits and assessments of various transport services, infrastructure, and facilities, identifying and removing barriers to travel.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including transport advocacy groups and government bodies, to enhance accessibility standards and improve the passenger experience.
  • Provide expert advice on accessibility requirements for new projects, upgrades, and refurbishments, ensuring compliance with UK regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff to support passengers with disabilities, ensuring all employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist customers.
  • Monitor and report on accessibility performance across the network, identifying areas for continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage customer feedback related to accessibility, ensuring issues are responded to and resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Stay updated on developments in accessibility technologies, legislation, and best practices, including government programmes designed to improve accessibility in public transport.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing accessibility initiatives within the transport industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accessibility standards and regulations, including the Equality Act 2010, Transport Access Regulations, and other relevant industry guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences, including passengers, government bodies, and advocacy groups.
  • Experience in conducting accessibility audits and implementing changes to improve accessibility for passengers with disabilities.
  • A strong commitment to customer service and a passion for improving the travel experience for people with disabilities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Relevant qualifications in accessibility, transport planning, or related fields are desirable.
