Senior care assistant to cover 2 nights per week.

Hours of work are: 9pm – 8am

Must be flexible in covering Annual Leave and holidays

  • Must have NVQ 2 or 3
  • Must have 2 years experience in a care home setting
  • Must have medication training or willing to train to administer medication
  • To carry out all duties in such a manner as to enhance the resident\’s/patient\’s quality of life, ensuring their privacy, dignity, independence, rights, choice and fulfilment are not devalued.
  • Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet.
  • Help residents with mobility problems and other physical, including incontinence, help in use of care aids and personal equipment.
  • Care for residents during illness and any requiring bed care.
  • Help care for residents who are dying.
  • Liaise with G.P\’s, district nurses and other agencies.
  • Be responsible for administration of medication, ordering, receiving and documenting any details with medicines.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in such activities as reading, writing, hobbies and reactions.
  • In the time available between attending to residents undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry/ironing food preparation, table laying or dusting/cleaning, as directed.
  • Make and change beds, tidy rooms and empty commodes.
  • Answer emergency bells, the door, the telephone and greet visitors.
  • Read and write reports, take part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed.
  • To liaise with the domestic staff with regards to rotas, training new procedures, time sheets etc. and supervision of their work.
  • To actively take part in residents meetings. To attend training courses and staff meetings as requested by the manager.
  • Such other duties as may be deemed necessary by the manager, to ensure the smooth running of the home.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £12.41 per hour

Expected hours: 22 per week
