Cedar Creek Hospital of Michigan is a beautiful and state of the art 72‑bed facility. Cedar Creek provides evidence‑based treatment to adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues. Cedar Creek Hospital invests in our patients by offering an integrated medicine approach that provides the latest therapies including yoga, mindfulness, aromatherapy, music therapy and nutrition.
As part of our success and innovation in the field we are seeking qualified applicants for a Lead Behavioral/Psychiatric Health Technician position.
Position Description
Lead Behavioral/Psychiatric Health Technicians carry out the daily routines of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Shift Supervisor. This includes:
- Assisting in the ongoing assessment of the safety and emotional needs of each patient.
- Demonstrating awareness of the key elements of the treatment plans for all assigned patients and providing intervention/care accordingly on an individualized basis.
- Assisting patients with their personal grooming and personal hygiene, appropriate to the patient’s age, developmental level and needs.
- Participating in assigned groups and activities to meet the needs of various patient populations.
- Demonstrating the ability to maintain therapeutic and professional rapport with patients.
- Participating with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Providing verbal de‑escalation techniques and physical management as needed.
- Making rounds on patients every 15 minutes or sooner to provide patient safety.
- Assisting the RN with patient admissions and discharges.
- Performing vital signs, belongings searches and orientation to the unit.
Hours
7am to 7:30pm for day shift, 3 12‑hour shifts a week, including every other weekend.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Human Services related field preferred but not required.
- CPR certified (can obtain once hired).
- Experience working as a mental health technician required.
