The Commissioning / Service Engineer is responsible for startup and commissioning, service inspections and resolving technical issues with air pollution abatement systems including thermal oxidisers – including gas fired combustion systems. This role ensures that the supplied systems have been installed and put into service correctly and that customer and end-users' performance requirements and standards are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Validates equipment installations and completes start-up and commissioning on all makes of thermal and catalytic oxidisers and associated air pollution control / filtration technologies.
  • Works closely with all other personnel on activities concerned with installing equipment, investigates, and resolves customer reports of technical problems with equipment and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with customers and coworkers.
  • Checks new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full and safe functionality of systems according to specifications.
  • Analyses and reviews inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Installs replacement parts as appropriate to ensure reliable operation of equipment.
  • Understands wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment, with capability to make minor changes as deemed necessary for the correct and safe operation of the equipment.
  • Experience in working with PLC's (Allen Bradley and Siemens) to validate performance, troubleshoot operational issues and make changes to code.
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Holds Gas Safe accreditation.
  • Provides site with technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment in person or remotely.
  • Maintains records of performance reports by completing work orders for each job, maintenance checklists and daily time sheets.
  • Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
  • Travels frequently to customer sites; occasional overtime and sporadic on-call emergency service is required to meet customer needs.
  • Promotes CECO to customers and end users.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Appropriate qualifications in mechanical and electrical engineering (e.g. would suit a person with a manufacturing plant maintenance background).
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant related experience.
  • Working knowledge of gas fired combustion equipment.
  • Experience in thermal abatement or related equipment, control systems and field startup/commissioning are preferred.
  • Track record of communicating and training plant associates to achieve the required knowledge transfer of equipment operations and safety features.
  • Knowledge of thermal and catalytic oxidation solutions for abatement of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), gaseous air toxic fumes and odours from chemical, hydrocarbon, and acid gas process streams is preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Frequent travel is required and must have the ability to travel. Predominantly travel will include UK, Europe, USA, Americas.
