About CECA
The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) is the representative body for companies who work day-to-day to deliver, upgrade, and maintain the country’s infrastructure. With more than 300 members based across six English regions and the devolved nations of Scotland and Wales, CECA represents firms who together carry out an estimated 70‑80 per cent of all civil engineering activity in the UK, in the key sectors of transport, energy, communications, waste and water.
Role Background
At CECA North East, we are looking to recruit a dedicated Business Support Manager to enhance the operational efficiency and strategic delivery capabilities of CECA North East. This is a newly created role, reporting directly to the Director / Company Secretary and indirectly to the Chairman and wider Management Board. This role is crucial in providing the necessary administrative, project management, and coordination support to achieve the objectives in the Annual Business Plan. This plan is intrinsically linked to CECA's five Core Pillars of activity, and a dedicated Business Support Manager will be instrumental in ensuring these pillars are effectively progressed.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the activities of the 'Foundations Group' (Junior Board) with regards to educational outreach activities, delivery of the annual 'College Bursary Programme' and associated events and social value activities.
- Support the development of region-wide initiatives to create new talent pipelines for the civil engineering sector including amplification of CECA-member job opportunities (particularly work experience and apprenticeship programmes) and initiatives such as Skills Bootcamps.
- Design and plan social media campaigns and marketing materials to encourage new entrants into the industry.
- Assist in the planning, administration and marketing of online events and face‑to‑face events and training courses relating to Legal / Commercial, Health & Safety, Social Value & Sustainability as well as liaison with Client organisations eg. 'Meet The Buyer'.
- Assist in the planning, administration and execution of CECA's Annual Dinner & Awards evening.
- Dealing with a wide range of stakeholders including Members, Associate Members, Sponsors, Training Providers and Educational Establishments (Schools, Colleges and Universities).
- General office support as and when required which may include: dealing with Internal and External Customers, attending meetings, note taking, report writing and creating action logs.
- Working as part of Project Teams and responsible for elements of Project Management including scoping, planning, monitoring and reporting outcomes.
- Answering the telephone and dealing with queries.
- All other duties relevant to the development of the organisation as directed related to Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Media and Social Media, Research and Sales / Direct Marketing.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
- Good oral and written communication
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Packages (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and social media platforms
- Good Time Management with the ability to work to deadlines and solve problems
- Organised, Efficient, Friendly, Honest and Reliable with a Positive Attitude
- Ability to work to set timescales
- Knowledge of the construction or civil engineering industry would be an advantage
Location
H25 The Avenues, 11th Avenue North, Team Valley, Gateshead, NE11 0NJ but will include hybrid (home) working and travelling to member companies (North East) and other relevant stakeholders.
Hours
9:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 9:30am – 12:00pm Friday (Flexibility can be offered to suit circumstances and Part‑Time working arrangements will be considered)
