Data Center Engineer in City of Westminster

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Support Engineer. The role will primarily involve providing Server hardware support across a multi-vendor environment, including HPE and Dell servers, and performing data centre cabling activities (installation, termination, patching, and testing of all DC interlink cabling such as CAT‑5e, CAT‑6 6A, and fibre optic). The role also includes Data Centre Facilities management activities such as IMACD (Install, Move, Add, Change, and Decommission), escorting external resources, requesting access, and handling goods in/out. Based on customer sites in Lewisham and London Docklands, the position is covered 24/7/365 on 12‑hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Installations, maintenance, and repairs on customer equipment.
• Installation, termination, and testing of all data centre interlink cabling (i.e., CAT‑5e, CAT‑6 6A, fibre optic).
• Ensuring all calls are resolved within the agreed SLA, escalating when required and updating customers until the call is resolved and closed.

• Strong customer relationship building skills and the ability to manage complex customer problems.
• Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction by clarifying customer needs and ensuring they are met, handling customer‑relations problems promptly and appropriately.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
• Calmness and the ability to solve problems under pressure.
• Strong knowledge of HPE Proliant and Dell Servers.
• Experience with patch cabling in a DC environment.
• Good knowledge of ServiceNow (SNOW).
• Sound knowledge of ESD working practice.
• Sound knowledge of general Health & Safety.
• Good MS Office tool skills.
