Are you an experienced and proactive Health, Safety and Environment Advisor? The focus of this role is to foster a strong safety culture from within. This position is working from Hull as a main site. You will need your own transport and driving licence.
As an experienced HS&E advisor, you will be providing practical advice and the necessary support to keep staff, visitors, and contractors safe on the port sites. Acting within the legislation, you’ll be responsible for assisting the maintenance, development, and continual improvement of a thriving safety culture. Part of the regional HS&E team, this position is to implement improvement as well as maintaining robust HS&E standards, ensuring best practice and delivering legal compliance.
You will be supporting the delivery of continuous improvement programmes across the group as well as within your region, working closely with operational teams, leadership, and clients to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance. We require each and every employee to go home safely after every day. The environmental aspect of this vacancy will be collaborating with specialists to support broader objectives.
Essentials:
- Recognised health and safety qualification (BSc. NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ or equivalent)
- Highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment and independently
- Solid understanding of HS&E legislation
- Experience of updating, writing, managing, and maintaining effective safety management systems/programmes
- Understanding of behavioural safety concepts
- Confident with the use of IT systems, e-learning platforms, and software
- Hold a current UK Driving Licence and be able to travel to ports within the region
You will be working with internal employees as well as suppliers, leading and delivering safety campaigns and following environmental initiatives. As HS&E advisor, you will be conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, as well as developing, implementing, and reviewing HSE policies and safe systems of work. Delivering training, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives whilst liaising with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal stakeholders.
It would be great but not essential if you have a NEBOSH Diploma or are working towards it, along with experience of implementing and maintaining environmental management systems ISO 14001. You will monitor environmental impact and support sustainability initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Proven experience in a HSE role
- Plan, conduct, manage, and report on audits, safety observations, compliance, and continuous improvements
- Enhance, develop, and review H&S
- Working with Engineering, Projects/Operations, Marine, Security, and Operatives
- Assisting in monthly H&S reports including data trends
- Conducting incident investigations and reporting on them
- Coach, mentor, and influence all your stakeholders, creating a sense of ownership across all employees
- Flexible and willing to travel to other sites, specifically Immingham
