Health & Safety Manager - Fresh food production located between Boston and Skegness. This company grows, harvests and processes fresh veg for supermarkets and markets. It is a market leading business, committed to producing high-quality products and has an innovative approach to work. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Health & Safety Site Manager to manage all the H&S function of this very busy facility.
You will be managing and responsible for the other H&S team member. You are responsible for ensuring our workforce operates in a safe, compliant environment. You will have experience of food manufacture H&S. This is a busy position. As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be the main on-site authority, fostering a "safety-first" culture across all production departments. You will move beyond compliance to champion practical, shop-floor safety leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor robust health and safety policies and systems, ensuring full compliance with legislation and BRCGS requirements
- Conduct regular site audits and risk assessments (including COSHH)
- Incident and near miss investigations to proactively reduce accidents and incidents
- Actively engage with shop-floor employees to improve safety behaviours, ensuring PPE compliance, safe machinery operation, and proper contractor control
- Identify training needs and ensure the training is delivered
- Track KPIs, track corrective actions, and prepare performance reports for senior management
You will need:
- Health & Safety management experience within an FMCG environment
- NEBOSH Diploma or National Certificate is essential
- Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH or Grad IOSH) is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of BRCGS requirements, food safety standards, and practical factory risks
- A practical, "hands-on" approach to safety, with the ability to influence staff at all levels
- Proficient in incident investigation, risk assessment, and using digital safety management software
