Salary: £33,200 per annum

Hours: working on a rota across Monday to Sunday

CDS Labour are recruiting for a reliable and motivated Farm Assistant / Assistant Farm Manager to join a well-established poultry farming business. This is a hands-on position supporting the Farm Manager with the daily running of broiler farms. It offers a great opportunity for someone with poultry, livestock or agricultural experience who would like to develop their farm management skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Farm Manager with daily farm operations
  • Completing daily husbandry duties and maintaining high bird welfare standards
  • Monitoring feeding, watering, heating, lighting and ventilation systems
  • Assisting with vaccinations, bird weighing, catching and collection
  • Keeping accurate records of birds, feed, treatments, supplies and farm activities
  • Following strict biosecurity, hygiene and sanitation procedures
  • Carrying out basic fault-finding and minor repairs when safe to do so
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping across poultry houses, roadways and surrounding areas
  • Monitoring flock performance and reporting any concerns
  • Supporting farm security and receiving authorised visitors
  • Providing alarm and out-of-hours cover when required

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience within poultry, livestock, hatchery or farming
  • A full UK driving licence essential
  • A strong commitment to animal welfare
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical or technical skills
  • Understanding of biosecurity and hygiene standards
  • A flexible, responsible and dependable approach
  • Willingness to learn and develop within farm management

Important biosecurity requirement:

Due to strict biosecurity regulations, applicants must not have any contact or involvement outside work with other birds, including domestic poultry or caged birds.
