We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning construction and maintenance business for an experienced Working Trades Supervisor to join their team in the Carlisle/Cumbria area. This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will lead and support frontline trades teams, ensuring high-quality repairs and maintenance services are delivered across clients' homes and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support and develop a team of trades operatives delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services.
- Manage day-to-day workload allocation, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
- Carry out site visits, quality checks and post-inspections to ensure work meets required standards and specifications.
- Act as the first point of escalation for complex or sensitive repair issues, resolving problems quickly and effectively.
- Ensure all works comply with health & safety legislation, company policies and safe systems of work.
- Support the performance management of operatives, including coaching, mentoring and addressing underperformance where required.
- Work alongside frontline teams and provide practical support when required.
About You
- Proven experience working within a trade, repairs or maintenance environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
- Strong technical knowledge within your trade area and a good understanding of building maintenance standards.
- Good knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe working practices.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- First Aid certificate.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing workloads and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to deal professionally with clients and residents.
- Confident using IT systems and mobile devices for job management and reporting.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to obtain a DBS check if not already in place.
- Experience within domestic repairs or social housing would be advantageous.
