Groundworks Foreman in Lincolnshire

Location: Louth, Lincolnshire LN11 Pay: £17.50–£19.50 per hour, depending on experience Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00–17:00 Contract: Permanent Start Date: ASAP CDS Labour are recruiting an experienced Civils Groundworks Ganger / Foreman to supervise and coordinate a groundworks team on civil engineering and construction projects in the Louth area. This is a hands-on supervisory position offering an excellent opportunity to secure stable, permanent employment. The Role You will lead a team of groundworkers, labourers and plant operators, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required specification. Key responsibilities include: Supervising and coordinating daily groundworks activities Allocating duties and explaining drawings, specifications and work instructions Monitoring productivity, quality and progress Liaising with Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors Overseeing excavation, trenching and earthworks Supervising foul, storm and surface-water drainage installations Overseeing ducting, service trenches and utility infrastructure Supervising the construction of manholes, inspection chambers and catch pits Coordinating kerbing, paving, foundations, concrete bases and slabs Checking measurements, levels, gradients, lines and alignment Monitoring backfilling, compaction and reinstatement work Coordinating plant, labour, materials and site deliveries Completing daily progress records, check sheets and other site paperwork Identifying delays, quality issues and resource requirements Maintaining excellent site housekeeping and environmental standards Health and Safety You will be responsible for maintaining safe working practices within the gang, including: Delivering and participating in daily briefings and toolbox talks Ensuring RAMS are understood and followed Monitoring excavation and trench safety Maintaining safe exclusion zones around plant and excavations Ensuring PPE is worn correctly Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe practices Stopping work where an immediate safety risk is identified Supporting site inspections and safety audits Ensuring tools, plant and equipment are operated safely Requirements The successful candidate must have: Previous experience as a Civils or Groundworks Ganger, Foreman or Groundworks Chargehand Strong knowledge of civil engineering and groundworks operations Experience supervising groundworkers, labourers and plant operators Good knowledge of excavation, drainage and utility works The ability to read and understand construction drawings Strong health and safety awareness A good understanding of RAMS and site procedures Experience working around heavy plant and excavation operations The ability to organise, motivate and lead a team Good communication and organisational skills The ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines Relevant CSCS, CPCS or NPORS qualifications appropriate to the role Good spoken and written English Experience assisting with setting out and checking levels would be advantageous.
