Learning & Development Officer Location: Market Weighton Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: Full time Contract: Permanent
CDS Labour are currently recruiting for a Learning & Development Officer to join a growing business based in Market Weighton. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing people, supporting operational excellence and embedding a strong culture of learning across the organisation.
The successful candidate will design, deliver and evaluate training and development programmes across hatcheries, farms and support functions. The role will work closely with managers and teams to identify training needs and ensure learning solutions are practical, engaging and aligned with business objectives.
Regular travel to farms and hatcheries across the UK is required. A company car or travel allowance will be provided.
Main Duties Evaluate training programmes using feedback surveys and performance metrics, making improvements where required.
Conduct role-specific training needs assessments.
Identify learning gaps with the Compliance team and prioritise development schedules.
Work with managers to understand skills gaps and future workforce requirements.
Develop structured training plans, competency frameworks and learning pathways.
Create engaging learning materials, including presentations and workbooks.
Ensure training content aligns with legislation, industry standards and internal policies.
Deliver face-to-face and remote training sessions.
Support employee diploma learning and tutoring.
Assist with onboarding and induction programmes for new starters.
Coach managers and supervisory team members on people development and performance improvement.
Maintain accurate training records and certification logs.
Monitor mandatory training completion and escalate non-compliance.
Support internal and external audits by providing evidence of training activity.
Evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs, feedback and performance outcomes.
Recommend improvements to training content, delivery methods and learning systems.
Liaise with HR, Operations, Compliance, and Health & Safety teams to align training with business requirements.
Support managers with team capability development and succession planning.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of learning technologies, teaching methodologies and organisational development practices.
What We're Looking For Experience working in a Learning & Development or training role.
Experience designing and delivering internal training within operational or regulated environments.
Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
Ability to translate complex information into clear, practical learning.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret training data and performance metrics.
Excellent organisation and time management skills.
Knowledge of a training compliance-driven agricultural environment.
Understanding of industry-specific compliance requirements.
CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 in Learning & Development, or currently working towards this.
CAVA qualification is preferred.
Ability to travel regularly to farms and hatcheries across the UK.
