About the Role
We are looking for hardworking and reliable Fruit Picking Operatives to join a busy seasonal farm growing strawberries and raspberries in poly tunnels. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy practical work and are able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties
- Picking strawberries and raspberries grown in tunnels.
- Picking fruit from raised tabletops, meaning minimal bending is required.
- Working to piecework targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Sizing and sorting fruit as you pick.
- Using trolleys to assist with moving trays of fruit.
- Planting and carrying out general plant husbandry tasks.
- Preparing plants for overwintering.
- Removing old plants and grow bags at the end of the picking season.
- Carrying out some heavier lifting when required.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area.
Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Basic English language skills required.
- Previous agricultural or fruit-picking experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual work, including occasional heavy lifting.
- Good attention to detail when picking and sorting fruit.
- Reliable and willing to work flexible days.
- Comfortable working in different weather conditions.
Working Hours
The farm operates 7 days a week. Workers will receive 1 day off per week, which may vary from week to week. If you require a particular day off, this can be requested in advance from your supervisor, subject to operational requirements.
