CDS Labour is currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Inspector to join an established aerospace precision engineering company based in Harlow. This is a permanent opportunity for someone with experience in mechanical or precision inspection who is confident working with engineering drawings, tolerances and a range of measuring equipment.

The Role

You will join an established inspection department, carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision CNC-machined components. You will be responsible for ensuring components meet the required quality standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of CNC-machined components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
  • Use manual inspection equipment including micrometres, verniers and gauges
  • Operate inspection equipment including CMMs
  • Complete and maintain FAIR documentation and quality records
  • Support PPAP requirements where required
  • Work in line with AS9100 procedures and maintain high quality standards
  • Identify and report any quality issues or non-conformances

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in mechanical or precision inspection within a manufacturing environment
  • Confident reading engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances
  • Competent using manual measuring equipment such as micrometres and gauges
  • Basic measurement calculations and trigonometry
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong quality-focused approach

Desirable

  • Experience with CMM programming/operation, particularly Aberlink
  • Knowledge of QMS systems and aerospace quality standards such as AS9100
  • Experience completing FAIRs and/or supporting PPAP

Working Hours & Salary

Permanent position 39 hours per week Monday-Thursday: 7:00am-4:00pm Friday: 7:00am-12:00pm Some evening and weekend overtime may be available. Salary up to £30,000 per year, depending on experience.
