We are looking for a Data Centre Engineer to join our team, supporting customer environments across Lewisham and London Docklands on a 24x7x365 shift rotation.
The successful candidate will provide hands‑on support for HPE and Dell server hardware within a multi-vendor data centre environment, as well as delivering structured cabling services including installation, termination, patching and testing of copper and fibre‑optic infrastructure.
You will also carry out a range of data centre operational activities, including IMACD (Install, Move, Add, Change and Decommission) tasks, escorting third‑party engineers, managing site access requests and supporting goods‑in/goods‑out processes.
This is a customer‑facing role requiring strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a mission‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, maintenance and break‑fix support of customer hardware.
- Hardware support and replacement activities for HPE and Dell server estates.
- Installation, termination, patching and testing of structured cabling and fibre‑optic infrastructure.
- Deliver data centre operational and facilities support activities.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, escalating where necessary to meet agreed SLAs.
- Provide timely updates to customers throughout the incident lifecycle.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Remain calm under pressure and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of HPE Pro Liant, HPE Blade System and Dell server hardware.
- Experience working within a data centre environment.
- Proven experience with structured cabling and patching activities.
- Working knowledge of Service Now (SNOW).
- Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and best practices.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a data centre environment.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
- Additional Information
- Shift Pattern: 12‑hour shifts (7am–7pm / 7pm–7am), including weekends and public holidays.
- Primary Location: Lewisham, South East London.
- Secondary Location: London Docklands (as required).
- Security Clearance: Security vetting required for site access.
