We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Support Engineer. The role will primarily involve providing server hardware support across a multi-vendor environment. Hardware consists of HPE Servers and Dell servers, and the role includes data centre cabling activities such as installation, termination, patching and testing of all DC interlink cabling (i.e. CAT-5e, CAT-6 6A, fibre optic). The role also includes data centre facilities management activities such as IMAC/D (Install, Move And Change, decommissioning) work, escorting external resources, and requesting access for goods in/out.
The position is based on customer sites in Lewisham and London Docklands, covering 24/7, 365 days a year based on 12-hour shifts. The tasks will include:
- Installations, maintenance, and repairs on customer equipment.
- Installation, termination and testing of all data centre interlink cabling (i.e. CAT-5e, CAT-6 6A, fibre optic).
- Strong customer relationship building skills.
- Ability to manage complex customer problems.
- Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction by clarifying customer needs and ensuring that they are met.
- Handling customer-relations problems promptly and appropriately.
- Ensuring all calls are resolved within the agreed SLA, ensuring calls are escalated when required and customers are updated until the call is resolved and closed.
- The ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal.
- Displaying calmness and the ability to solve problems under pressure.
Required skills and attributes: Must have strong knowledge of HPE Proliant.
