About the Team

Data is core to CDP’s mission and purpose. We use it to drive engagement, enable earth-positive impact and understand our very own CDP organisation. The Data team ensures that CDP is enabled to use this data, it is engineered to allow ease of use and exploit it to provide insights and data products.

About this role

We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Technical Business Analyst to join our Data function. Reporting directly to the Director of Data, this role will act as a critical bridge between data teams, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders. You will help translate complex business and product needs into technical requirements, drive clarity across initiatives, and ensure data-driven solutions are aligned with strategic goals.

What you will do

  • Partner with data teams (analytics, data engineering, governance) to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define and refine technical requirements for data products and platforms.
  • Define and provide detailed specifications for DevOps tickets and work items, ensuring clarity and completeness for implementation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and discovery sessions to gather business needs and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Document business processes, data flows, and system interactions to support solution design and delivery.
  • Analyse and interpret data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development of KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance and impact.
  • Ensure alignment between business goals and data strategy through continuous engagement and feedback loops.
  • Contribute to agile ceremonies (e.g. sprint planning, retrospectives) and help prioritize backlog items based on business value.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding.
  • Promote and support a culture of data quality and governance across CDP teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve enterprise-wide data.

We’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a technical or data-focused environment.
  • Solid understanding of data principles and best practices, including data quality, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of data platforms, analytics tools, and data governance principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across both technical and non-technical teams.
