Junior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services Location: Farringdon, London Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience) Type: Permanent, Full-Time About the Company Our client is a progressive, forward-thinking building services consultancy based in the heart of London. The Role As a Junior Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be working closely with experienced engineers and project leads to design, develop, and deliver high-quality electrical building services solutions. This role offers hands-on project exposure, mentorship from senior team members, and clear progression opportunities. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in the design and specification of electrical building services systems (lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, security, etc.) * Produce technical drawings and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and industry-standard software (e.g. Amtech, Dialux, Relux) * Support senior engineers with project coordination and documentation * Attend client and design team meetings, gaining valuable exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration * Contribute to sustainable design solutions and help meet project environmental goals * Stay up to date with industry standards, codes of practice, and regulations Requirements: * Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering * 6–24 months’ experience in a building services design environment (placement or graduate role) * Basic understanding of BS7671 and relevant CIBSE/IES standards * Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, Amtech or Dialux is beneficial * Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced mentors * A proactive attitude and genuine interest in sustainable design and technology What’s on Offer: * Competitive salary with annual reviews * Structured training and support toward IEng/CEng registration * Mentorship from senior engineers and opportunities for rapid progression * Flexible hybrid working (2–3 days in the office) * Regular CPD sessions and access to industry events * Modern, open-plan office near Liverpool Street with excellent transport links
