The Network Engineer will work with the network team, cooperatively manage and support hundreds of POP networks with dozens of ISPs across the globe, including, but not limited to, POP build out and redesign, BGP optimization, ISP coordination, and daily operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support BGP and IGP network operations, including device, network, and traffic troubleshooting and administration.
  • Manage day-to-day service operations in EMEA.
  • Co-work with network and other operational teams in other regions (China, Korea, US).
  • Work with ISPs and IDCs to build/operate/optimize our network efficiently.

Planning and Project Management

  • Plan key network improvement projects and lead them.
  • Build POPs and support new product launches.
  • Create and improve global standards, policies, and procedures for reliable operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
  • About 3-8 years’ experience in administering a large-scale, highly-distributed service network for 24x7 production, preferably for revenue generation and not enterprise support.
  • 3+ years’ hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a BGP network with more than five (5) POPs/locations.
  • Strong knowledge of Internet protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, VPN, etc.) and Ethernet troubleshooting tools and methods (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.).
  • Strong experience with layer 3 routing (e.g., OSPF) and layer 2 switching (e.g., VLAN, spanning tree, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking tools (Splunk) and processes (change management, incident management, etc.) in a cloud services environment.
  • A detail-oriented, process-focused, and inquisitive nature.
  • Self-motivated self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and teamwork skills.
