The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a leading highways and civil engineering contractor, working from their Pontefract office and delivering projects through a major SDF framework.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple highways and civil engineering schemes, managing projects from pre-construction through to completion while ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, to specification and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated projects.
- Manage multiple highways/civils projects concurrently.
- Lead and manage Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and Supervisors.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site resources.
- Monitor programme, progress, costs, risks and commercial performance.
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, forecasts and project performance.
- Manage NEC contracts, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Support pre-construction, planning and mobilisation activities.
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Attend client and project meetings and provide regular progress reporting.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant highways standards and contractual requirements.
- Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager within highways or civil engineering.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects / schemes.
- Strong experience delivering highways, infrastructure or other relevant civil engineering projects.
- Experience working under NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.
- Strong commercial, programme and risk-management experience.
- Experience managing project teams, subcontractors and supply chains.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in a live highway / infrastructure environment would be highly advantageous.
- 5+ years' relevant experience in a senior project delivery position.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline – desirable.
- SMSTS – essential.
- CSCS – essential.
- NEC4 training/qualification – desirable.
- Temporary Works / relevant highways qualifications – desirable.
