An established engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer to join its growing design and projects team. The company designs and manufactures bespoke low voltage switchgear, distribution boards, panel boards, transformers and containerised substations for a wide range of industrial and commercial projects. This role would suit an Electrical Design Engineer, Switchgear Design Engineer, Panel Design Engineer or Electrical Project Engineer with experience working on LV switchgear, control panels, MCCs or similar electrical systems.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs and schematics for bespoke LV switchgear projects, working closely with estimating, production, manufacturing and site teams to ensure projects are delivered correctly from design through to installation and commissioning.

Duties

  • Producing electrical designs, schematics and panel layouts
  • Preparing functional design specifications for LV protection devices
  • Working from client specifications and project requirements
  • Supporting estimating teams with technical input
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal departments
  • Supporting FAT and SAT testing
  • Producing technical submissions and O&M manuals
  • Managing multiple projects from design through to delivery
  • Providing technical support to sales, production and site teams

The Candidate

  • You should have experience in electrical design within a switchgear, control panel, MCC, panel building or electrical systems environment.

Qualifications

  • HNC or above in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience designing LV switchgear, control panels, MCCs or distribution boards
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical or similar CAD software
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts
  • Knowledge of BS7671, BS EN 61439 and IEC standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines
  • Good communication skills and a practical approach to engineering

Experience with MCC wiring, PLC programming or LV/HV package integration would be beneficial but is not essential.
