I am currently recruiting on behalf of a respected and growing regional contractor seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the delivery of a proactive, business‑focused H&S strategy across all operations. This is a senior, influential role where you will shape safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams. The organisation is values‑driven, with a strong emphasis on integrity, quality, innovation and professional excellence. They are looking for someone who can champion these behaviours while ensuring full compliance with legislation and industry standards.

The Role

  • Leading day‑to‑day H&S management across all operations, including risk assessments, method statements, site inspections and accident investigations
  • Developing and maintaining all Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and readiness for legislative changes
  • Driving HSEQ performance, implementing initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and risk control
  • Producing clear, concise reports, procedures and guidance for senior decision‑makers
  • Partnering with operational teams to identify risks, resolve issues and embed continuous improvement
  • Providing expert advice on Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality matters
  • Supporting compliance with legislation, client standards and contractual obligations
  • Managing key industry accreditations such as CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies including the HSE and Environmental Agency
  • Designing and delivering internal training, campaigns and monthly H&S communications
  • Contributing to the development and monitoring of the HSEQ plan, KPIs and measurable targets

About You

  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Significant HSEQ experience within a construction environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience working across multiple sites
  • In‑depth knowledge of accredited management systems and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently, drive initiatives and maintain high professional standards

Desirable:

  • Additional professional certifications
  • Broader construction industry experience

  • Temporary Works Co‑ordinator
  • Safe Working at Height
