We’re supporting a well-established civil engineering contractor in the North East who is looking to appoint an experienced Site Agent to oversee the delivery of key civils and infrastructure schemes. This role suits a confident operational leader who can manage site teams, drive programme performance, and ensure safe, high-quality delivery across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Lead day-to-day site operations, ensuring works progress safely, efficiently, and in line with programme.
  • Team & Subcontractor Management: Oversee site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Programme & Planning: Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project momentum.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all works meet specification, completing inspections, ITPs, and relevant documentation.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with CDM and company procedures.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, clients, and local authorities to maintain smooth project delivery.
  • Commercial Awareness: Support commercial teams with progress updates, variations, and site-based cost control.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or senior operational role within civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structures, highways, or public realm.
  • Confident communicator with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid; additional civils-related qualifications advantageous.
