Experienced Manual Machinist with a background working within machine shop and manufacturing environments. Skilled in the preparation and machining of cast components using conventional machinery, with a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating conventional machine tools, including manual lathes and milling machines.
- Preparing cast tubes and components for subsequent manufacturing processes.
- Carrying out machining operations to achieve required surface finish standards and minimise rework.
- Recording dimensional measurements before and after machining operations.
- Conducting visual inspections to ensure components meet quality requirements.
- Identifying and marking materials correctly, including alloy identification and segregation.
- Loading and unloading components using overhead cranes and associated lifting equipment.
- Making adjustments to machining processes to ensure products meet specification and quality standards.
- Following production plans and work instructions to meet operational targets.
- Maintaining a safe and organised work environment at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Experience operating conventional machine tools, including manual lathes and/or milling machines.
- Background within a machine shop, tool room or heavy engineering environment.
- Ability to interpret measurements and carry out dimensional inspections.
- Understanding of machining tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and manufacturing standards.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.

- Available to work overtime, including weekends when required.
