We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fettler to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for fettling and excavating castings and pipework to the required quality standards, ensuring products are prepared for further processing and inspection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fettle and excavate castings to required quality standards and company procedures.
  • Use high-cycle and air grinding tools to remove defects and achieve the required profile.
  • Prepare castings for welding by excavating casting defects.
  • Remove imperfections and ensure finished components meet specification.
  • Work safely and effectively within the workplace, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes where required (training can be provided).
  • Work closely with Welding, Inspection and Production teams to meet operational targets.
  • Follow production plans and instructions provided by management.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship while working efficiently and cost-effectively.

Requirements

  • Previous fettling experience within a manufacturing, foundry or engineering environment.
  • Experience with manual handling.
  • Abrasive wheel experience.
  • Slinging experience.
  • Basic understanding of quality standards and inspection requirements.
  • Good awareness of workplace health and safety.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles would be advantageous.
  • Overhead crane experience is desirable, although training may be provided.

  • Two-shift rotation pattern. (Earlies 6am - 2pm, Backs 2pm-10pm)
  • Earlies - £16.48 per hour
  • Backs - £17.76 per hour
