We’re supporting a well-established Tier 1 organisation with a strong regional presence as they look to strengthen their operational delivery team with a driven Assistant Site Manager. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term development, exposure to major projects, and the chance to work alongside experienced site leadership on high-quality builds across the North East.
As the appointed Assistant Site Manager, you’ll support the Site Manager and wider delivery team in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You’ll play a key role in coordinating trades, monitoring progress, maintaining site records, and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures. This contractor delivers a diverse portfolio including commercial, education, healthcare, and public-sector schemes, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills across varied and technically interesting projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is completed safely and in line with programme
- Coordinate subcontractors, materials, and site logistics
- Carry out quality checks, snagging, and site inspections
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation
- Assist with health and safety compliance, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Work closely with the Site Manager to resolve issues and keep projects on track
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as an Assistant Site Manager within a main contractor or housing environment
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and site coordination
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proactive approach with the ability to problem-solve on site
- Valid CSCS card; SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid are beneficial
- Experience across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, or public buildings is advantageous
