We're supporting a leading civil engineering contractor in the North East who is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support commercial delivery across a range of civils and infrastructure projects. This role suits someone with early‑stage QS experience who is confident working with site teams, managing documentation, and developing their commercial skillset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Support: Assist with cost control, valuations, variations, and monthly reporting.
  • Measurement & Take‑Offs: Carry out accurate measurements, take‑offs, and support the preparation of BOQs.
  • Subcontractor Management: Help manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and contract documentation.
  • Site Collaboration: Work closely with Site Managers and Engineers to ensure commercial alignment with site progress.
  • Procurement Support: Assist with procurement of materials and subcontract packages.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, ensuring all commercial documentation is completed to company standards.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience as an Assistant QS, Trainee QS, or similar commercial role within construction or civils.
  • Understanding of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structures, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator able to work collaboratively with site and commercial teams.
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or working towards it) advantageous.
  • CSCS card preferred.
