As a Plant and Transport Hire Controller/Administrator, you will support the effective and efficient day-to-day running of the Plant and Transport Department, as well as assist with various procurement processes. You will report to the Plant & Transport Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Plant & Transport Planner:
- Manage statutory operating licenses and the company's operator responsibilities.
- Ensure vehicles are taxed, maintained, serviced, and tracked correctly.
- Liaise and negotiate with external suppliers to ensure value for plant and transport services.
- Minimize external plant hire and review cost versus purchase options.
- Manage job cards for workforce productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure deliveries and collections are carried out cost-effectively.
- Maintain asset registers and ensure internal plant hire and maintenance functions are efficient.
- Control costs, damage charges, and internal/external hire requests.
- Keep yard and garage areas safe, tidy, and compliant with RAMS and toolbox talks.
- Maintain fleet and plant in good working order and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Review fleet mileage, tachograph, and tracker records and take action as needed.
- Organize internal transportation of plant and materials.
- Liaise with sites, tips, and suppliers to allocate work efficiently.
- Contribute to budget preparation and business case formulation for plant and transport purchases.
- Approve invoices for external plant hire.
- Be flexible to meet organizational needs.
- Procure goods, materials, and services considering price, quality, and delivery.
- Build and manage supplier relationships.
- Collaborate with pre-construction or planning teams on tenders and value engineering.
- Assess suppliers, monitor contract compliance, and manage performance improvements.
- Support product change requests and capacity planning.
- Track and expedite orders, maintain order logs, and manage related spreadsheets.
- Check invoices and resolve queries.
