CDM Recruitment is working with a major engineering and manufacturing business in Newcastle to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician.
This is a hands-on electrical maintenance role working across a substantial manufacturing site, covering reactive and preventative maintenance, breakdowns, electrical fault finding and equipment improvement.
The shift pattern is a major benefit: five 12-hour day shifts and five 12-hour night shifts across a 21-day cycle, giving you 15 days off in every 21 with no weekend working.
The role:
- Reactive, planned and preventative electrical maintenance
- Electrical fault finding and breakdown response
- Maintenance of manufacturing and production equipment
- Fault finding on electrical control systems, motors, sensors and associated equipment
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
- Root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements
- Supporting machinery installation and commissioning
- Continuous improvement and downtime reduction
- PLC fault finding and diagnostics where required
What we're looking for:
- Time-served Electrical Maintenance Technician / Electrical Maintenance Engineer
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent
- Maintenance experience within manufacturing, production or engineering
- Strong electrical fault‑finding skills
- Experience fault finding on industrial machinery and control systems
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
- PLC fault‑finding/diagnostic experience advantageous
- HNC or equivalent advantageous
