We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Database Administrator with strong DevOps capabilities and a background in database administration, particularly in AWS. The ideal candidate will be proficient in implementing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and version control practices using GitLab. This role requires hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools and a commitment to continuous improvement and automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in managing PostgreSQL databases, particularly on AWS RDS (primary focus).
- Hands‑on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Proficiency with GitLab for both CI/CD pipelines and version control/versioning.
- Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as Kiro, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
- Strong scripting skills in Shell and Python (required).
- Advanced SQL experience and familiarity with query optimisation.
- Ability to promptly investigate and resolve database performance issues.
- Experience with version control workflows, branching strategies, and GitLab best practices.
- Competence in planning and undertaking database tasks such as upgrades, migrations.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Additional Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience with MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with AWS ECS for containerised applications.
- Familiarity with Rundeck or similar automation tools.
