We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Database Administrator with strong DevOps capabilities and a background in database administration, particularly in AWS. The ideal candidate will be proficient in implementing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and version control practices using GitLab. This role requires hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools and a commitment to continuous improvement and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in managing PostgreSQL databases, particularly on AWS RDS (primary focus).
  • Hands‑on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
  • Proficiency with GitLab for both CI/CD pipelines and version control/versioning.
  • Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as Kiro, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
  • Strong scripting skills in Shell and Python (required).
  • Advanced SQL experience and familiarity with query optimisation.
  • Ability to promptly investigate and resolve database performance issues.
  • Experience with version control workflows, branching strategies, and GitLab best practices.
  • Competence in planning and undertaking database tasks such as upgrades, migrations.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Additional Skills (Added Advantage)

  • Experience with MySQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with AWS ECS for containerised applications.

Salary

The salary for the role of Intermediate Database Administrator pays up to £43,000 p.a. providing a fantastic opportunity for career progression through CDL’s clearly defined career framework. Your growth and advancement within CDL are only limited by your own ambition and effort.
