Introduction

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain the organisation’s reporting infrastructure to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and usability. Your responsibilities will include creating and optimising dashboards, building robust ETL pipelines, and maintaining scalable data models that support advanced reporting. Leveraging tools such as PostgreSQL, Power BI, and Excel, you will deliver reliable, scalable reporting solutions that improve operational efficiency and inform strategic decision-making. Working closely with analysts and stakeholders, you will ensure the organisation’s data is transformed into meaningful insights that support CDER Group’s mission of fair and effective enforcement. You will report directly to our Business Intelligence Manager within a flat-structured organisation. This role is based in our London (City) office; following the successful completion of your probation period, it will transition to a hybrid model requiring three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Implement best practices for data visualisation, ensuring reports are user-friendly and impactful.
  • Continuously improve reporting capabilities based on stakeholder feedback and business needs.
  • Translate complex data into intuitive reports that cater to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build, maintain, and optimise SQL scripts and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
  • Ensure built reports are efficient, reliable, and scalable to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Automate and streamline recurring reports to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Write and optimise advanced SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data.
  • Design, integrate and implement data and data models to support reporting and analysis needs.
  • Develop and manage robust data models to enable effective analysis and reporting.
  • Optimise data structures to improve query performance and report delivery times.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in data pipelines, dashboards, and BI tools.
  • Perform regular testing and validation to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.
  • Manage and prioritise tickets in Jira to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
  • Analyse customer requirements detailed in Jira tickets and translate them into technical deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide status updates on ticket progress.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across divisions to understand their data needs.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment in reporting goals.
  • Present findings and insights to technical and non-technical key stakeholders, providing clarity and actionable recommendations.
  • Offer guidance to other departments in interpreting and leveraging BI outputs effectively.
  • Monitor the performance of reporting systems, addressing any issues proactively.
  • Highlight data inconsistencies to seniors and managers, while also analysing and resolving them, where possible and applicable, to ensure a clear understanding of root causes and implementing necessary solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in data processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security protocols in all BI solutions.
  • Experiment with and implement enhancements to existing reporting tools to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance data collection, analysis, and reporting practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in Business Intelligence.

Personal qualities, experience and skills

  • A degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced in SQL/PostgreSQL, data modelling, and database management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, data cleaning).
  • Advanced skills in Power BI, including building dashboards, reports, and DAX.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Data Analysis, Data Engineering or Business Intelligence.
  • A proactive and curious mindset with a passion for data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues promptly.
