This is a breast surgery specialty doctor post providing services for residents within the catchment area of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is based at Darlington Memorial Hospital but the role may involve programmed activities across the Trust.
The post will be based around the sessions of two breast consultants and will be expected to comprise elective in-patient and day case surgery, general and specialist out-patient clinics & MDT working. The Department has a commitment to the career progression of Career Grade Doctors and skills required for specialist aspects of the post which will be developed within the post..
Main duties of the job
Beresponsible for the day-to-day care and management of patients in the One Stop Clinic.
Be givenopportunities to develop surgical skills and clinical management experience byassisting in theatre with our oncoplastic breast surgeons.
Participatein outpatient clinics with the assessment of both new and review patients.
Attendall operating and outpatient commitments of their supervising Consultant.
Hours ofwork may vary according to Clinical need.
Beexpected to provide cover in unforeseen emergencies and exceptionalcircumstances and to deputise for absent colleagues in the normal run of dutiesso far as is practicable.
Continueto demonstrate progress towards personal development goals.
Participatein clinical audit projects within the Department.
Performadministrative duties in a timely fashion.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
