An exciting opportunity has risen for a registered paediatric nurse, with 2 yearsexperience post qualification, to work alongside experienced Children's nursesin the Paediatric Assessment Area of University Hospital of North Durham,providing excellent care to children and young people. We are looking for paediatric nurses who are lookingto work in a fast-paced Assessment Area.

There will be opportunities to develop newskills and knowledge, through training and development provided. You will be supported by the existing medicaland nursing team to deliver high-quality care to children and young people whorequire urgent treatment. The focus we have in our department is familycentered care

Main duties of the job

  • In conjunction with the Paediatric AssessmentArea Manager and Matron ensure that standards of care for the paediatricservice are delivered to a high level and that these are regularly monitoredand appropriately adapted in light of proven research findings and newdevelopments.
  • Work alongsidepaediatric nurse, Doctors and other members of the MDT to deliver high qualitycare.
  • Provide enhanced clinicalskills in the care of children with short and long term health care needswithin a hospital setting
  • Provide relevant nursingadvice both within and outside the profession as appropriate.
  • Assess, develop andimplement care plans in conjunction with other professionals and parents/carers
  • Guide and supervisenursing and support staff in the organisation, delivery and recording of clientcare.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Ability to asses, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients in the emergency department
  • Recent paediatric experience

Special Requirements

  • Shift Work
  • Mixture of Days/Nights and Weekends
  • Current evidence of working with acutely ill children and families, with up to date knowledge and skills within general paediatrics.
  • Driving posts musty have valid Full UK driving licence
  • Participation in quality development and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

  • RSCN / RN (Child or Adult) Level 1
  • Health related diploma/degree
  • Safeguarding training
  • ENB 998/997. Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice. FLIP or equivalent.
  • ILS,ALS,EPLS,PILS

Statutory Registration
