This is an opportunity to join our established AdultPhysiotherapy Team. This post is open to internal applicants. Applications arewelcome from qualified Physiotherapists with HCPC registration on application.
Successful candidates will join our diverse team, rotationstrust wide across a range of clinical specialties within inpatients,outpatients, community rehabilitation and paediatrics.
You will work alongside colleagues to assess and treatpatients across a range of clinical conditions with
varying degrees of complexity.
You will be responsible for delivering evidence basedinterventions to facilitate recovery, promote well-
being and optimise independent function.
You will be an active member of the physiotherapy team andthe wider multi-disciplinary team. We are
seeking people who can adapt to changing environments andwork well in a team.

Main duties of the job
Successfulapplicants will work alongside senior physiotherapists and the wider MDT andyour development will be supported by the team leads. The post holder will beresponsible for a designated clinical caseload, support is available in theform of supervisions and joint working. The role requires a dynamicphysiotherapist who is able to work within the physiotherapy team andmultidisciplinary team to provide exemplary care to the patient. The successfulapplicant will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skillsin order to support with the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation ofpatients whilst achieving outstanding physiotherapy outcomes. This post willinclude working with a diverse range of conditions in highly complex patientswith physical, psychological and social care needs. You will assess, diagnose,implement and evaluate individual programmes of care for patients with a widerange of clinical needs. Band 5 rotational physiotherapists rotate 6 monthlythroughout a wide range of specialities and teams within CDDFT.

Job responsibilities
To organise and prioritise and delegate workload within thespecialism.
To use sound clinical judgement to prioritise patientsensuring effective use of resources.
You will assist staff under your supervision to prioritisetheir caseloads and advise them on appropriate interventions in response tocomplex and routine cases on a daily basis.
To demonstrate physical skills inclusive of dexterity,co-ordination and sensory skills to carry out
physiotherapy assessment and interventions.
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspectsof your own work, including the
management of patients in your care.
To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patientsincluding those with diverse or complex
presentations / multi pathologies that change across thecaseload.
To utilise clinical reasoning skills and manual assessmenttechniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition, these skillsmay be advanced.
To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapytreatment programme based on evidence-based
practice and treatment options using clinical assessment,reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment
methods and develop comprehensive discharge plans, theseskills may be advanced.
To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication toolsto communicate effectively and
empathetically with patients to progress theirrehabilitation. This will include patients who may have
difficulties in understanding or communicating.
To evaluate patient progress, re-assess and alter treatmentprograms if required.
To provide advice to medical and nursing staff and othermembers of the MDT, regarding patients
within the specialism.
To contribute towards the provision of flexible and timelyservices this will include working across a
seven-day week, work across a variety of shift patterns, bank holidays and overnight on call.
To be responsible for the timely and accurate recording ofpatient care in accordance with service
policy, professional standards and legal requirements.
To contribute to and ensure adequate data is collatedregarding service activity.
To liaise and communicate with all members of themultidisciplinary team and outside agencies when
appropriate.
To represent physiotherapy service and/ or individualpatients at the multidisciplinary team meeting.
To carry out assessment and treatment of patients withmoderate physical effort on a daily basis.
To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) bykeeping abreast of any new trends and
developments, and incorporate them as necessary into yourwork.
To be an active member involved in the delivery andattendance of the in-service training programme,
presentations and training sessions.
Actively participate in staffappraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan (PDP) as both appraiser andappraise.
To undertake the measurement andevaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence BasedPractice projects, audit, research and outcome measures, either individually orwith colleagues or with clinical specialist or manager.
To make recommendations for changein service provision.
To liaise with senior colleaguesin relation to physiotherapy services within the speciality area and to take anadvisory role in the development of service within the speciality area.
To disseminate guidelines to staffacross the Trust in order to influence and improve standards of care. Toobserve and adhere to the Code of Practice and Rules of Professional Conductlaid down by the HCPC.
To adhere to all trust and servicepolicies and procedures.
To deputise for the Clinical TeamLeader/ Operational leads in terms of operational issues when asked to do so.
To maintain accurate,comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal, professionaland departmental requirements, and to communicate assessment and treatmentresults of the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters.

Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of MDT working.
- Evidence of excellent communication skills within a wide variety of settings. Undergraduate experience including core placements and competencies within musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, neurology and respiratory care.
- Previous band 5 or NHS experience relevant to role.
Qualifications
- BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- HCPC Registration.
- Evidence of CPD.
- An understanding of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust values and how you adhere to them.
- Recognised relevant academic qualification.
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
- Involvement in specific interest groups

Special Requirements
- Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and to carry out concurrent activities. A proactive ability to represent the profession and the Trust with enthusiasm, flexibility, empathy and reliability.
- Must be able to participate in 7 day working, including bank holidays and overnight on call.
- Ability to independently travel across the Trust area to meet the requirements of the post.
